Beatitudes

Currently looking through the Bible, using verses to debunk the current rumour that the Rapture will come on May 21 (although I see no reference to May 21, 2011 in the Bible, so I'm going to assume it's not going to happen then), and I came across these. I haven't read them for a few years, but they still resonate with me.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

(Matthew 5: 1-10)

Makes me feel a little better every time I read it.
